Johann Berger
12.3.1935 – 2.11.2024
Johann Berger was born on a cold March morning in 1935 in a small town in the north – a quiet beginning to a life full of curiosity.
Childhood was simple, shaped by war and scarcity, but Johann learned early on to create worlds with his imagination.
He was a quiet student who preferred to think rather than speak – and early on dreamed of distant places.
At 19, Johann left his parents’ home – full of hope for a life bigger than the village he grew up in.
He learned the craft of printing, fell in love with paper and letters – and laid the foundation for his life’s work.
In a summer full of music, he met Anna – she remained his greatest constant until his last day.
With Anna, he began a shared life in a small old apartment – small, but full of dreams.
The birth of his daughter Lisa changed everything – responsibility gained a face, love a new depth.
He founded his own workshop – not to become rich, but to work freely and create beauty.
His work gained recognition – books from his workshop were kept in libraries and read.
When Anna died, his world collapsed – and yet he slowly found his way back to everyday life, carried by memories.
He spent his final years in peace – reading, reflecting, grateful for the paths he had taken.
Rest In Peace
