Highest velocity

Nothing is faster than light. The speed of light is 299,792,458 m/s.

In one second, a human being covers one and a half metres.

A carrier pigeon flies about 20 metres in one second.

An aeroplane flies 250 metres in the same time.

The Apollo moon rocket made 10 km in that time.

In a fibre optic cable, an email would travel around the world five times in one second.

But nothing is faster than light. The speed of light is 299,792,458 m/s. Light covers the distance to the moon of around 384,000 km in just over a second.

Speed of Light
Light travels about 300,000 kilometers per second in a vacuum, setting the ultimate speed limit in the universe. Laser light, a concentrated form of light, harnesses this speed to deliver precision and power in a variety of industries.
